This is a strange place to photograph but when you are planning to teach a few workshops on how to paint with light with a Halloween theme it is the best place to go. Now these images do not do the lovely Kelsey justice as the ghostly effect that we are creating allows branches, leaves etc to show through the body and face making for some strange looks. In one she appears headless as the light from behind makes her head disappear. I think Kelsey was a bit surprised with the first few images as I started taking the photo without her in the image. I would then ask her to stand somewhere in the image and fire the flash on her. After the flash fired I asked her to move out of the image or to another location. This is definitely not the normal way that she would model for a photographer. This type of photography can be very fun and creative.
I wonder if a few of the neighbours were a little spooked by flashes of light in the graveyard as a police van drove up and had the floodlight shining throughout the graveyard. I am glad that they moved on so that we could finish our shoot. Their floodlight would have made it difficult for me to control the light in the image and handcuffs may have made it a little difficult to take the photo. :-)
When you are viewing the images, remember that the ghostly effects are not Photoshop created, they are created in camera by controlling how much light hits your subject. Click on the image to the right to view the slideshow.
